How to Make Lip Balm Without Wax?

There are three ways to make lip balm without using beeswax.

  1. Simple Honey Lip Balm

The first method is to use shea butter, raw honey and any essential oil. These ingredients are good for a soft lip balm and keep your lips pink, smooth. Keep it at room temperature. Melt the butter, add honey & oil, now your lip balm is ready without beeswax.

  1. Fruity Gelatin Lip Balm

Use coconut oil, gelatin powder, essential oil of any flavor. Warm up the coconut oil, add gelatin powder while the oil is hot, this heat is good to activate the gelatin to set up the balm properly. In the end, add essential oil and stir. A perfect lip balm will be ready to use.

  1. Mix Hydrating Lip Balm

Use caster oil, shea butter and coconut oil instead of beeswax. And melt them together, later add a few drops of essential oil as per your choice. Then remove it from heat, this is how your lip balm will be prepared without a single drop of beeswax.

How Long Does Homemade Lip Balm Last?

Usually lip balms expire, but different kinds of balms have different dates of expiration. Most of them have a life of 12 months, after that don’t use it otherwise it will show bad effect. Or if it’s packed, you can use it as it smells nice, and feels normal. If it expires, you can feel its off odors, tastes, and color changes.

But when you are making a homemade lip balm, it may last longer if you store it gently. And if you tube applicator into a balm jar or tin, it will stay safe longer. Use cleaned ingredients and proper ratio.

How to Prevent Lip Balm From Cracking?

Some of you complain about cracking lip balm, it will happen when it becomes dry. To avoid the crackeness, use some tricks.

Different Melting Point- To make lip balm, you use different kinds of oils and wax, each have different melting points. When you let the balm cool, some solidify quickly while others take a few more minutes. As a result, each ingredient forms crystals and cracks the lip balm.

Ingredient Ratio- Using a correct ratio will restrict cracking. Many of you use beeswax in high amounts to make it hard and hardness is the most common reason for cracking. Or if you use less amount of beeswax, it will make your lip balm too soft and melt easily. Add other ingredients if it’s hard or beeswax if it’s too soft.

Container is Too Cold- If your homemade lip balm will cool down quickly and hard means you are using a container which is too cold. It happens when you make lip balm during winter seasons. To avoid this, set your container near the stove, not on the stove while melting the mixture.

It wasn’t so hard to make homemade lip balm. You have seen the ingredients list, procedure and you have enough balm types. Make any which you will find easier or love the odor.
